Shrimp cocktail recipe using Casa Bonita Fire Roasted Chipotle Salsa for cocktail sauce

Shrimp Cocktail with smokey salsa cocktail sauce

The third instalment of our series of “ways you didn’t you could use Casa Bonita’s Fire Roasted Salsas” in collaboration with our friend Lisa Dickie is here! This time, learn how to make a delicious and “smokey” shrimp cocktail, perfect for those summer days at the cottage or the backyard.

So, what do you need? Here are the instructions and ingredients:

Tools
Bowl
Large frying pan
Small bowl
Measuring cup and spoons
Lime squeezer

Ingredients
1⁄2 – 1 pound of raw shrimp (The bigger, the better! Get shrimp between 16 and 30 count – that means the
number of shrimp/pound).
1⁄2 lime
1⁄2 cup of Casa Bonita Fire Roasted Chipotle Salsa
1 – 2 tablespoons of horseradish
1⁄2 teaspoon of Tajin Seasoning

Tip: Not familiar with Tajin Seasoning? Here is everything you need to know about Tajin and where to get in Canada.

Directions
Step 1: If the shrimp is frozen, place in a bowl and run with cold water until thawed. Blot with a paper towel.
Step 2: Mix your cocktail sauce. In a small bowl, add 1 tablespoon of horseradish. Stir in the salsa, taste. Adjust to your taste.
Step 3: Juice your lime in the bottom of a large frying pan. Add the shrimp. Heat to high and move the shrimp around. Sprinkle with Tajin seasoning and cook until shrimp is bright white and pink.
Step 4: Cool the shrimp in the fridge or over ice.
Step 5: Serve.
